Navigation introduction

Chargetrip navigation allows you to build a complete turn-by-turn experience for electric vehicles based on Chargetrip calculated routes. It takes a Chargetrip route and turns it into instructions you can use inside a dedicated turn-by-turn or active guidance product from navigation companies like Mapbox, Here, or TomTom. Furthermore, it allows you to subscribe to a route and query that route during an active turn-by-turn session for route updates.

It is essential to note the difference between navigation instructions and a turn-by-turn or active guidance user experience. Chargetrip Navigation provides the raw instructions to render a turn-by-turn experience using a turn-by-turn provider. It does not provide UI elements.

Currently, our instructions fully support the Mapbox Navigation SDK. More providers will follow.

Our navigation instructions are currently in beta and, therefore, experimental. Features may change, break, or disappear at any time. Creating a turn-by-turn experience requires significant development effort, and turn-by-turn SDKs can be very expensive. An alternative to offering a native turn-by-turn experience in your driver application is to hand over a calculated route to a navigation app already installed on your user's device, such as Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze. You can create a deeplink using our waypoints as query parameters in the URL.
