Setup

Set up your account

To start using the API, create an account. Once your account is set up, you can start using the API directly against the production environment.

Set up your environment

The dashboard is organized into three levels, from broadest to most specific.

  1. WorkspaceA workspace lets your team members work together on the same projects, for example when a country manager needs to manage operator preferences and a developer needs access to the API keys. A workspace is also the billable relationship with us, so multiple workspaces means multiple contracts.
  2. ProjectWithin a workspace, set up a project. Projects are created based on operator preferences, station database, and vehicle selections. If you have use cases that need a different setup, create a separate project for each.
  3. AppIf you share these settings but still want separate analytics or security measures, for example when you build an iOS and an Android app, create different apps within a project.

See send requests for how to use your project and app ids to authenticate requests.

Keep your account safe

After you set up your account, you’ll want to keep it safe. Here are our recommendations:

  • Protect your credentials: Never commit an API key to source control, store it in a secrets vault instead, and scope it to only the access it needs since our keys can be restricted.
  • Grant access through team members instead of sharing logins: Invite colleagues to your workspace with only the access they need, rather than handing out your own credentials.
